Coasteering & Sea Kayaking

Coasteering journey for a local Youth Club on the Isle of Man, on a warm evening in June.
A great way to spend a Thursday evening, looking forward to seeing you all again!
Sunday's sea kayaking ran from Port St Mary, and used the coastline up to Sugarloaf caves and the Anvil for a journey with intermittent coaching and rock hopping...
Then in the afternoon, the Intermediate session paddled to the Calf Sound, using the spring tide flow through the 'Little Sound' to practice moving water skills, lots of rescues, some interesting and some excellent body postures and rotation noted during the session!
Sam was on hand to deliver some ideas on variable practice, and individualised feedback.
obviously some great facial expressions as well!
Next Sunday has a little more wind anticipated, so we'll develop some of the manoeuvring skills in the wind, we've worked on earlier.

a rainy day in June...

... a group of lads wanted an adventurous day on the Isle of Man. They were up for some adrenaline, and a day of physical activity as a group of mates (and marine biologists) interested in the marine environment and wildlife. Working around the world, as far as S. Georgia, they had some good stories.
Quality kit & clothing on a sheltered route meant a very enjoyable Friday all round, and we (as coaches) got some extra knowledge on bits along the way!
Apologies for the quality of the pics, it was raining quite a bit, and the Coasteering was timed nicely to make best use of the swell which arrived in the afternoon...
I think somewhere along the way it was also a combined stag party for a few of the lads, all mates from University days who meet up occasionally for a blast!
Really good to have you out on the water : )

Evening Paddle - wildlife

Back from an Evening Paddle from Peel Fenella Beach, where we headed South towards Glenmaye Beach, before returning back to finish beneath Peel Castle...
...as usual, no shortage of wildlife to spot along the way : )
Excellent visibility, perfect calm, warm evening in great company!
Got some nice effects on the sea as the evening light changed
 Hope you like them!
Given the forecast for the next few days, we were very lucky to get this tonight : )
Nice to see the Puffins are still here, together with the Guillemots, Razorbills and other migratory birds.
Saturday's are now filling fast with group bookings, we still have some availability on Evening Paddles through July and August.
It's going to be yet another cracking summer!!

Adventure Race - Day 2

The second day of the Isle of Man Adventure Race was again based from Peel, Fenella Beach.
The Hill Run did a 9 plus km route, finishing back down Peel Hill.
Andy Nash lead throughout, (also winner of the Mountain Bike route on Saturday) closely followed by fellow Youth Scholarship team mate (and winner of yesterday's Sea Swim) Andy Isaac.
Kristian Cowin holding 3rd place in the run, having come a clear second place in the Sea Swim.
Got a snap of the lads having just finished their runs, looked pretty fresh!
The rope climb was as always the spectators centrepiece, and the penultimate event.
Paul Moulton from MTTV was down interviewing me whilst I was commentating the Rope Climb.
After an exceptionally close finish by the three leading teams, 'Rockhoppers' won by one point!
In joint second place came 'Youth Scholarship Old Boys' and 'David Thomas Keggin'.
A massive congratulations to all competitors, the organising team at Adventurous Experiences, and the marshals who all gave their time to make this such a memorable event!
Official Sponsor PricewaterhouseCoopers
Already looking forward to 2013!
