Today's Full Day Sea Kayak Trip from Laxey - with Adventure Club members
Plenty to observe as we paddled past - a serene start to the journey...
...which gradually got increasingly challenging, designed to suit the small group, and included a quick lunch at Douglas prom, before heading back, making use of the wind and tide behind us!

Gorge Scrambling - yesterday, for the lads...
...ran at at Ballaglas Glen, a stunning setting for this delightful activity.
With New Year's Eve tomorrow, we'll soon be heading in 2012!

SPC continues support for IoM Events

STEAM PACKET COMPANY SUPPORTS ADVENTURE RACE
AND SEA KAYAK SYMPOSIUM

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is supporting a local businessman in his bid to attract adventure-seeking tourists to the Island.
Extreme sports and adventure experiences are becoming increasingly popular and the Isle of Man’s reputation as a destination providing those pastimes continues to grow.
Keirron Tastagh, of Manx business Adventurous Experiences, organises the Adventure Race in June and the Sea Kayak Symposium in September. Thanks to support from the Steam Packet Company and the Department of Economic Development, Keirron is attending The Outdoors Show and the Adventure Show in London during January with the intention of attracting people to both annual events.
Keirron explained: ‘It’s important that we attend these shows and talk directly to those interested in taking part in adventure activities, as it also gives us the opportunity to show exactly what the Island has to offer. We’re extremely grateful to the Steam Packet Company for its assistance with our travel arrangements and also for helping to bring some of the world’s best coaches to the Island during our events.’
Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘Both of these events are growing in popularity and the Steam Packet Company is pleased to be involved in their promotion and also by providing great value package deals to those taking part through Steam Packet Holidays.’

Kim's victory in Slalom

Kim Tastagh, our trainee coach at Adventurous Experiences, won the junior title of the Isle of Man annual slalom competition on the River Neb yesterday, organised by Steve Watt of Manx Paddlesports. Kim just missed pole position in the combined classes, taking joint 2nd place overall.
Congratulations also to Becca and Rach whose team's achieved 1st and 3rd place respectively.

Inland 'Sea Kayaking' - Adventure Club Trip.
A tranquil paddle with the tide up the estuary and onto the river.
Protected from the strong winds, a thoroughly enjoyable festive day on the water.

This Christmas has been an excellent mix of action and socialising, which continues through to the New Year. Cammag on Boxing Day (link to info from a Northern perspective :) was eventful as always, The South winning 5 'goals' to nil! Kim picked up the trophy and man of the match! A family gathering yesterday with relatives from New Zealand, Gorge Scrambling today, a full day Sea Kayak Trip tomorrow making use of the lull in the gales : )
And an exciting new schedule of events coming online to get the most from 2012!
See you soon

Winter wonderings...

After a few days of interesting climbing in Coire an Lochain, increased snowfall and a change in wind direction loaded the gullies and made the busier Coire an t-Sneachda a more attractive prospect.
The business of ascending winter routes does not lend itself to taking many pics, so a few from the walk in and from the Fiacaill Ridge, a delightful scramble!
Loch Morlach in the early afternoon light.

An amazing place, inspirational.

a period of calm

The week has been an interesting one, with some very breezy conditions on the Isle of Man.
Had a great day on the water at Port St Mary today, with residual swell from the Gales...
Finishing as dusk reduced visibility and the sound of Christmas carols greeted us over the water from Port St Mary Lifeboat Christmas Carol Service.
Theia was much more keen on the foam pile in the bath : )

Adventure Club Meal & Social
hosted by Tony & Rach was a spectacular banquet of fine cuisine and entertainment!
A little reminder of one of the themes from Fri.... : )
From everyone in the Adventure Club - many many thanks for a superb evening!!

Last Weeks Surfing off Peel was challenging again, and a few pics tell the tale...
"Just writing to thank George and Ian for running a great surf session on Sunday. Great to get back on the water." Martin
Me and Sam were over in the UK at a coach conference, so nice to see the guys had great fun  in our absence! Given this week's interesting forecast, it may more of the same for next weekend, (and maybe some sledging) yippee!!
