the shriek of the Peregrine Falcon...

... was heard as we paddled South from port Erin Bay. It was the first I’d heard from the kayak this year. After a couple more calls from high up, the change in note suggested the stunning bird was in flight...
We were then treated to an aerial battle at lightning speed, as two Peregrines descended from the cliff tops to sea level, in a couple of seconds! Then the flurry of activity was over... As these birds mate for life, it may have been a territory dispute. The last one we witnessed directly overhead was on the North East coast last summer.
Walking along the road earlier in the week I’d heard the bleat of a baby spring lamb. On reflection both of these calls have the ability to instantly pull you from whatever thoughts you were having and bring you back to the immediate surroundings.
Me and Kim had the 'Mighty Triton' double kayak on the water all day, which proved very useful on the way home, as we discovered some fruits of the sea...
If someone remembers losing them, and contacts me, there are a few bits we'll be happy to return :)
The sky 'opened up' as we finished the Intermediate training session - which was both entensive and challenging.
A big well done to the whole team, and well worth some reflection before next Sunday's training.
Here are a few pics to help you! See you then,
K
