Winter mission

Sunrise cloud inversion

Drove up to the Cairngorms on Wednesday, had a little recce up into Coire an t-Sneachda (gusting 60-80mph so staying low was the script : ) did some ice axe familiarisation on the snow slopes, moving on steep ground, digging ledges...

Caught up with Jake and Matt, sampled some local beverages and cuisine in the Old Bridge Inn, Aviemore.

Following day we picked up Becca in Fort William and enjoyed mixed conditions tromping up Sgurr a' Mhaim, part of the 'ring of steall'. Then gathered ingredients for fajita feast with Andy an Katia at Cruinn cottage in Ballachulish.

Thinking ahead, booked the Ice Factor (indoor ice climbing wall at Kinlochleven) for Friday, our first full team day (Aoibhinn joined us Thursday night), with accompanying lashing rain! An extra £5 gives full access to the indoor rock climbing walls as well : ) rounded off the day by meeting Rob for haggis pizza and micro brewery ales at Black Isle Bar, Fort William!

Saturday was making the most of conditions on Buachaille Etive Beag in Glencoe, ice axe training on the peaks of Stob Dubh 883m, lunch and then Stob Coire Raineach looking across at Buachaille Etive Mor, finishing in time to collect ingredients for an award winning chilli by Katia and Andy, washed down with a Magnum of fine red sent by Kim!

Sunday morning was an early rise to summit Stob Dearg 1022m via Coire na tulaich, and a fine little winter variation en-route : ) back at the car park, and unanimous decision to head to the Real Food Cafe near Tyndrum for fine fish n chips lunch! Then goodbyes and plan to meet up in the Isle of Man at Easter 😎
Keirron and Amy drove south to the English Lake District, checking in at the Bridge Inn near Wasdale Head for Sunday roast!

Monday motivation...
Capturing the sunrise cloud inversion on the Summit of Scafell Pike (highest mountain in England at 978m) on 13th February '23. It required an early start headtorch ascent 😊 a magical memorable moment to wrap up a tremendous winter mission in Scotland with the crew ❄️ 🙌🏆
Developing your own Bold Perspective.

Looking forward to our next one!
