Adventure Club - paddling progression

It has been an exceptionally successful winter season, with milder conditions allowing for regular training sessions, used by beginners through to our highly motivated students and members of the Adventure Club.

We have a busy line-up of socials and structured progressive steps in the coaching planner – utilising the traditional winter training period to work on personal performance, progressing core skills and developing moving water awareness. The indoor heated swimming pool courses have certainly been a catalyst for this process, and all the staff at Adventurous Experiences are really proud of the results.

Great to see the Guillemots and Razorbills are returning to their traditional summer residences in impressive numbers to breed on the Island already, filling the sea cliff ledges, often heralding the first signs of the coming of spring...

Wild Goats off Laxey head also providing entertainment as we tried to figure out how they managed to get to their grazing location, let alone how they would leave it again!

Friday evening’s social and curry themed feast was a really enjoyable evening, and its always fun experiencing the variety of new culinary delights on offer. Ean’s ‘Satan’s Ashes’ choice certainly was a memorable addition to the party!
Looking at Friday 17th April for the next Adventure Club Meal – celebrating entering our 07th year of providing Unforgettable Adventurous Experiences on the Isle of Man!

Orienteering by Kayak on the Sunday was formulated by Janet, Lol and Jan – following on from the BCU Coastal Navigation & Tidal Planning evening course – and not only received very positive feedback, it highlighted an area everyone desired to progress. We will bringing increased emphasis on the courses recently completed into regular training, working towards fluid planning and self-sufficiency within the working group.

Spring tides with a moderate wind lifted the wave train at the Sound, on the South Coast of the Island, just nicely, giving a fast and adventurous playground to develop dynamic strokes and for those who desired it - a relentless full body workout!

We headed to the East coast on Tuesday for a relaxing sheltered scenic trip, calm conditions and reflective practice... as always a pleasure!
Mid February is certainly not been a quiet period for catching up in the office, so hopefully you’ll forgive us for making best use of the outdoors and leaving admin for a rainy day.

Heading off now with a couple of absolute beginners, visiting the Island from the UK, who rang up wondering what they could participate in during their short break on the Isle of Man. We have the perfect solution...

See you soon
Keirron
