Bear Grylls - Isle of Man

The Island Scouts Association put on a spectacular activity afternoon at Peel today,
with a guest appearance by Bear Grylls...
...a lot of folk turned out to welcome him! : )
As the Chief Scout, Bear Grylls is an inspiration amongst the 'young adventurers', arriving by helicopter onto Peel Hill, descending by mountain bike with the Explorer Scouts, and then visiting the groups of scouts and cubs embarking on their activities at Fenella Beach, and then round to Peel main beach.
Adventurous Experiences provided Sea Kayaking and Coasteering for the scouts, who all got to meet Bear Grylls personally and ask a few questions...
...before heading off on adventures in and out of the water!!
Good to see the leaders who had inspired me as a scout, Patrick our 3rd Peel Sea Scouts leader, Mike who trained us and took us over to Wicklow for our Chief Scout's Challenge, Ash who always had amazing stories to tell...

Yesterday afternoon I was delighted to be at Queen Elizabeth II High School, giving the 5th form 'leavers' their record of achievement's and a few words to the assembly about my time there. I remember beginning my cabinet making apprenticeship immediately after my leavers assembly in 1995...
...prior to requesting to return and join the 6th form 18 months later...

A lot of terrific memories and mischief, friends and inspirational figures came back.
A great honour to be your guest of honour.
And a special thanks to those who entertained us - totally engaging. Good luck to everyone.

Remember that anything is possible. It just depends how much you want it.
