Garnedd Ugain via Parsey Fern Gully

An adventure in North Wales

Making the most of the winter conditions in early March, I arrived early for a conference in Snowdonia National Park, and gained a day in the mountains : )
Stayed at Phil and Suzie's (Phil runs Sea Kayaking Anglesey), admiring how baby Idris is growing fast, and enjoying a rare relaxed evening in.

More snow arrived overnight, and Llanberis Pass was looking mighty for photo's!
A large coffee at Pete's Eats and used the Wifi for a final weather check...

Keeping between Clogwyn Mawr and Dinas Mot crags, I headed up from Llanberis Pass.
Sargeant's Gully looked fairly wet and a team had recently put in a nice trail up towards Llyn Glas... The friendly couple were roping up alpine style and eying a loop using Crib Goch.

I traversed across and ascended the summit via a derivative of Parsley Fern Gully LH, Clogwyn y Ddysgl. An interesting experience involving large amounts of loose snow, a hack through the cornice on Crib y Ddysgl, and a veritable learning opportunity!

Garnedd Ugain 1063m

Travelling lean due to a reduction in kit, the ridge provided a stark contrast to the occasional superb visibility on the lower slopes, and plenty of opportunity for navigational practice!

Dropped off and used the Pyg Track to return to Llanberis pass, using the route right to Pen-y-pass and a stroll down the road back to the car. On reflection, the day provided a combination of some of the most and least enjoyable moments I've had in winter... : )

AIM Insurance Member Event at Play y Brenin

The Activities Industry Mutual (AIM) member event took place next day, Friday 9th March at Plas y Brenin National Mountain Sports Centre, in Snowdonia National Park. I'd caught up with the AIM team and a few members in the Bar the night before...

Quite an idyllic location to discuss the benefits of outdoor education and experiences : )

As always, so much to learn and share in our industry.
Great to have 'benefit driven decision making' prominent in the discussions...
Looking forward to another year of Unforgettable Experiences!

Catch you on the water (frozen or flowing) soon
