Winter mission

Sunrise cloud inversion

Drove up to the Cairngorms on Wednesday, had a little recce up into Coire an t-Sneachda (gusting 60-80mph so staying low was the script : ) did some ice axe familiarisation on the snow slopes, moving on steep ground, digging ledges...

Caught up with Jake and Matt, sampled some local beverages and cuisine in the Old Bridge Inn, Aviemore.

Following day we picked up Becca in Fort William and enjoyed mixed conditions tromping up Sgurr a' Mhaim, part of the 'ring of steall'. Then gathered ingredients for fajita feast with Andy an Katia at Cruinn cottage in Ballachulish.

Thinking ahead, booked the Ice Factor (indoor ice climbing wall at Kinlochleven) for Friday, our first full team day (Aoibhinn joined us Thursday night), with accompanying lashing rain! An extra £5 gives full access to the indoor rock climbing walls as well : ) rounded off the day by meeting Rob for haggis pizza and micro brewery ales at Black Isle Bar, Fort William!

Saturday was making the most of conditions on Buachaille Etive Beag in Glencoe, ice axe training on the peaks of Stob Dubh 883m, lunch and then Stob Coire Raineach looking across at Buachaille Etive Mor, finishing in time to collect ingredients for an award winning chilli by Katia and Andy, washed down with a Magnum of fine red sent by Kim!

Sunday morning was an early rise to summit Stob Dearg 1022m via Coire na tulaich, and a fine little winter variation en-route : ) back at the car park, and unanimous decision to head to the Real Food Cafe near Tyndrum for fine fish n chips lunch! Then goodbyes and plan to meet up in the Isle of Man at Easter ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Keirron and Amy drove south to the English Lake District, checking in at the Bridge Inn near Wasdale Head for Sunday roast!

Monday motivation...
Capturing the sunrise cloud inversion on the Summit of Scafell Pike (highest mountain in England at 978m) on 13th February '23. It required an early start headtorch ascent ๐Ÿ˜Š a magical memorable moment to wrap up a tremendous winter mission in Scotland with the crew ❄️ ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ†

Looking forward to our next one!

Explaining BOLD

 Explaining BOLD - a 2 min read : )

Coaching

Providing an environment where people can learn to make mistakes. Where its OK to not get it right first (or sometimes only after many times). Lighting a fire to cook food in the back woods is as much about experiencing what does not work, as it is about the success of a culinary delight.

People

People are products of their environment.

This affects how they see things, and what they see (their perspective).

I may well see something in a completely different way to you... it does not prevent us both bring 'right'.

Changing

Learning to develop your own BOLD Perspective is 'getting comfortable with challenge'. It's a change in the way we see things, encouraged by immersing yourself in the outdoors... in nature.

Learning is not linear. It’s progressive.

Learning is a change in behaviour over time...

Learning that the outdoors is a real environment, which can at times be unforgiving... it may not distinguish between man and woman, background, appearance or preferences... it will hand out a lesson in humility, in respect.

We draw inspiration from it's raw beauty and power, opportunity for wildlife encounters and learning about health and happiness in our unique environment.

The Benefits of Outdoor Learning and Development are 'measured' on a different scale ⚖️

Perspectives

Developing your own BOLD Perspective will enhance (not replace) existing structure.  It's about seeing what is working well and making that happen more often.

Bold can be viewed as a philosophy, as a coaching tool, as a window of opportunity where anything is possible... it just depends on how much you truly want it. Is it a priority, is it your priority and why : )

Lucy and Juan complete 'Roof of Britain'

Lucy and Juan completed their Roof of Britain expedition last night ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ™Œ both keen Adventure Club IOM members (training is every Sunday morning in the Isle of Man).
Starting in Loch Linnhe (near Ballachulish) on 14 May evening, the duo headed north, round Cape Wrath, across the wild North coast of Scotland, past John o' Groats, Inverness and finishing back at Mull 25 days later!

Part of their final preparation was the open crossing from Isle of Man to Scotland in March this year, (with Janet, Mark & Keirron) camping overnight then paddling back the next day, with Adventurous Experiences.
