variable practice

Got back from the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland, on Friday evening...
...winter climbing with Jim is always a great adventure! This based ourselves at Carn Mhor B&B in Aviemore, a short stroll from the Ski Ing Doo Restaurant, and close to the Northern Corries : )
With many of the crags buried under recent snowfall, and approaches looking quite loaded, we opted for a route... topping out above Coire an t-Sneachda was delightful and included some navigation practice.

Increasing wind and snowfall made the fall-back option of skiing more appealing the following day!! : )
We headed for home as gales and further steady snow made conditions even more interesting...
...which meant I was back in time to take the girls swimming, and for the Kids Kayak Pool Training.
The youngsters completed session 2 of the Level 1 course, working on many fundamental skills exercises, in the form of games and challenges. The coaching team are really impressed with the effort from everyone.
Alongside the structured levels we have designed to provide a performance pathway for paddle sport on the Isle of Man, students and athletes on our programs also fulfil British Canoe Union Awards (BCU) as their skills build.
The youngsters on both the Saturday afternoon training courses have passed their BCU Paddlepower Start Awards. Certificates will be presented next week : )

ps. Got a message from Tony - the Senior Adventure Club had also been training on Saturday, off the East coast of the Isle of Man. Practising rough water landings, re-entry and rolls and wet skills. Looking forward to our session with you all next Saturday!
