A delightful visit to Coire an t-Sneachda...
...in total contrast to every other winter Scottish adventure, this one was actually enjoyable at the time...
...arriving at Glenmore Lodge at 2am after a long drive up monday evening with Jim. A leisurely cooked breakfast, and a few purchases in Aviemore, plenty of room in the upper (Coire Cas) car park, and an icy walk in past a fair few chirpy Ptarmigans : )
The 'routes' which offered the most ice / neve to rock ratio were the classic gullies and adopting a series of grooves and corners, making for straight forward yet rewarding ascent.
Topping out into... almost no wind.
Topping out into... almost no wind.
Clear conditions were being maximised by many folk out to play, including the local air rescue unit training around the Northern Corries.
A friendly welcome at the Lodge, a terrific night's sleep, memorable outdoor adventures to be savoured and sunshine with real warmth... Heading home before the storm!
