a Sunday of fun

Adventure Club paddles in Port Erin Bay today were a mixture of structured coaching and larking about in (and out) of kayaks. Hot sun, sheltered from the Northerly wind, beautiful!
As Juan joined us on the water this morning in the double, we decided to include double action in the afternoon session, with everyone pairing up for skills and thrills in the 'Mighty Triton' : )
With the Calf of Man being one of our favourite paddling locations, it was fresh to stay local in the bay and practice paddle feel, vertical paddle strokes, and a bit of cave exploration.
There's a lot to fit in before me and George head off on our adventure...
It's going to be a hectic few weeks!

and lastly a couple of others from beaches this week...

Stag Coasteering session

A stunning afternoon, with a brilliant blue sky.
Coasteering around Peel Castle, on the West coast of the Isle of Man.
Great to meet you all, and provide a memorable experience form your visit.
Cracking sunset to top the day off!
 Catch you soon

Youth paddle round Isle of Man

The Youth Scholarship circumnavigation of the Isle of Man completed in 4 days this week, totally self-sufficient, wild camping along the way. A few pics from the journey...
The first Puffins of the year, bobbing about by the kayaks
 various weather and sea conditions
 stunning wildlife
with remote camping on pebble beaches, the odd shipwreck for company
watching the search and rescue helicopter at work whilst eating the evening meal at sunset
then the final push and seeing the finish come into sight...
...and the joy at completing the Circumnavigation of their Isle of Man by sea kayak!
Congratulations to everyone, the six Youth Scholarship individuals who have progressed so far, Sam Murphy the Expedition Team Leader, and Tony and Martin part of the leadership team.

The guys are now closer to readiness for the main expedition to Vancouver Island in July.

Easter Ireland - Tollymore

We left the Isle of Man behind us, taking the short flight to Belfast City.
Jonny and Keith picked us up in the centre minibuses, and we headed straight to Northern Ireland's National Outdoor Centre - Tollymore.
With the whole group taking to the on-site mountain biking course, which winds its way around the centre, beginning with the basics
with increasing challenge for those who wish...
Paddling from Newcastle (15 mins from Tollymore) in the afternoon.
a range of ability within this Adventure Club exclusive trip, and plenty of fun!
We all headed into the Mourne Mountains the following day, some to explore a circular ridge walk, and the other group to hike in to 'Lower Cove', an area of stunning rock climbing, with beautiful routes.
Every evening we returned to Tollymore for a magnificent feast, conjured by by the in-house kitchen team, every morning we set off having eaten a hearty full cooked breakfast : )
A river journey was selected for Easter Sunday (after the Easter Egg Hunt).
some interesting bits of white-water, and well as plenty of stretches to try out some of skills Keith had been coaching, over on the Isle of Man in November.
The paddling teams did very well, and we witnessed some impressive feats by Jan in her single canoe!
Katia and Alice paddled my boat so I could catch some footage : )
The last morning was open selection, so we headed out with the camera to catch some pranks on the bikes, with the other group completing the Tollymore Forest Orienteering route...
It was amazing to be back at the luxury centre and immensely helpful and talented staff.
Looking forward to our next trip.
Happy Easter and all the best
