Sea Kayaking Finland

I've been over in Finland since the beginning of June, delivering BCU UKCC Paddlesport coach training and assessment courses, with Trys Burke, for Sea Kayaking Finland.
With temperatures reaching 31 degrees, and some stunning venues to work from, it was an amazing time : ) Jukka's family are terrific hosts. Anna's superb cooking and hosting skills, combined with working with Antti, Lauri and Anni on the water!
Jukka and Eva-Lotta worked on the L2 Training, L2 Assessment and L1 Courses with us, assisted by Antti (Jukka's son). It is so rewarding to be part of the learning process, from delivering the initial BCU training courses in 2005 and 2006 at Helsingin Melojat, to the present level of experience and enthusiasm we've observed, nurtured by Jukka and his team.
We got out on the bikes for a lap of the lake on one afternoon, passing a few ice cream shops and bars... plus a few famous landmarks and home to poets and artists.
The Linnonmaa family (and Sea Kayaking Finland base) grounds back straight onto the river, with their purpose built jetty, sauna, multi-discipline fleets of boats, is without doubt the most impressive and effective venue for delivering these courses. (photo by Trys)
Training, homemade food, coffee and hot sun during the day - sauna's, social and antics of an evening..
Flew back in yesterday evening, and caught a stunning sunset off Peel : )
Catch you soon
